Why does he say mean things?

Nothing you've written about him makes him sound appealing in ANY way. Do not give him a second chance. You've moved on, but he wants you back ONLY because he is obviously not appealing to any other women. Be thankful that he broke up with you and gave you time to see that you can do so much better.
