Can you go swimming after getting ears pierced?

Well I didnt get my ears actually pierced. I wasnt wearing earings for a long time and the hole healed a little. When I tried putting earings in i had to shove it through the hole (THATS WHAT SHE SAID..lol sorry) and it got swollen for 7 hours. Now it looks fine, but they are really sensitive right now. Tommorow im going swimming but i dont know if it will be safe, as the chlorine might burn it/ cause infection. Is it safe? Thanks :)
