Can an extrtemely right wing candidate still win nowadays?

As a conservative who votes Republican, I believe that it depends on what you call conservative. I consider a candidate who is fiscally responsible and defends the Constitution a conservative. Not the religious right who is just like the left and only follows the Constitution when it serves their agenda.
